How are Cashews Processed in the Factory?
The shell of cashew nuts is hard and inedible, and cashew nut shell liquid is toxic, which may spill over to corrode the skin or stain the kernels during processing. Therefore, the cashew nut processing method is the core and most important thing in the cashew nut production process. So how are cashews processed in the factory? Please see the steps below.
Step 1: Grading - The size of the cashews is sieved through the machine, and the cashews of the same specification enter the next stage.
Step 2: Steaming - Steam the cashews with their shells in a boiler at about 100℃ to soften the shells.
Step 3: Shelling - Advanced cashew shell cutting machines can be used, which are designed according to the shape of cashew nuts, which can greatly increase the rate of whole kernels and reduce the loss caused in the process of cutting shells.
Step 4: Drying - Steam heating and drying to remove most of the moisture in the cashew nuts.
Step 5: Peeling - There will be a gap between the dried kernel and the outer skin. The skin can be easily removed by the peeling machine, and the integrity of the cashew kernel is also maintained.
Step 6: Color selection and grading - Divide the whole nuts according to color and size. The cashew nut series can be roughly divided into W150, W180, W210, W240, W320 and W450.
